Cruel and Unusual Films Inc. is a film production company headed by Co-Presidents/Producers Zack and Deborah Snyder, along with producer Wesley Coller. A destination for fresh and unique material, Cruel and Unusual Films maintains a mandate of taking on projects that are unique and sometimes outside the box, basing its approach to filmmaking on not being derivative, but rather innovative in every way.

The company’s recent releases include this year’s blockbuster 300: Rise of an Empire, directed by Noam Murro; and last summer’s hit Superman movie Man of Steel which Zack Snyder directed and starred Henry Cavill as the iconic DC Comics super hero alongside Amy Adams, Russell Crowe, Diane Lane and Kevin Costner.

Previously Cruel and Unusual Films principals Zack Snyder and Deborah Snyder produced the smash hit 2007 film, 300, directed by Zack Snyder inspired by the Frank Miller graphic novel of the same name. Additionally, the company released the 2009 film Watchmen based on the graphic novel of the same name; the 2010 adventure film Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole, based on the beloved books by Kathryn Lasky and featuring a voice cast that included Oscar® winners Helen Mirren and Geoffrey Rush; and the 2011 action feature Sucker Punch, featuring an incredible ensemble cast of Emily Browning, Abbie Cornish, Jon Hamm, and Carla Gugino.

Cruel and Unusual Films is currently in production on Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, the sequel to Man of Steel, which will be released by Warner Bros. in May of 2016 and be directed by Snyder, who will also direct an upcoming Justice League film. Additionally, the company is presently developing a wide range of projects, including: The Last Photograph, with a story by Snyder and screenplay by Kurt Johnstad; Army of the Dead, an action-thriller written by Joby Harold, from an original story by Snyder; and Illusions, based on the novel by Richard Bach.
